About Morton McBurnie

Trustee and Service User

After leaving school Morton qualified as a colliery electrician, working underground in the Ayrshire coalfield, he was also fully trained in Mines Rescue.

In 1971 Morton joined Edinburgh City Police (later Lothian & Borders) where he served for 30 years & the last 14 years of his working life was in the funeral business where he gained a college diploma in Funeral Directing.

In 2018 he was given a self-travelling place at St David’s Bradbury Day Centre on. 

After Covid lockdown, Morton successfully applied for the vacant position of Trustee & Board of Management & he also volunteers within the Centre, as and when required.

At 75 years of age, Morton gets a great deal of satisfaction in being able to help people and thoroughly enjoys the happy atmosphere generated by the staff & service users.
