Trustee
Maureen was Day Care Manager at St David’s from 2008 to 2021. In this time Maureen implemented many changes for the better, the main being our transition to weekend opening in 2011, opening the Day Centre 7 days a week.
Before managing St David’s, Maureen had a very successful period as Chief Executive of ASH Scotland and [previously] of Scottish AIDS Monitor. Maureen played a central role in the campaign to end smoking in public places in Scotland. A fearless campaigner, she became a familiar figure to Scots as she battled against the tobacco firms and the licensed trade for an end to smoking in public.
Following the successful introduction of smoke-free enclosed public places in Scotland in March 2006, Maureen won the annual NCH Woman of Influence of the Year Award. The Scotland on Sunday also voted her the 2nd most powerful person in Scotland. In June 2006, Maureen was awarded on OBE in the Queen’s birthday honours for her services to healthcare.
We’re delighted Maureen agreed to join our Board of Directors after her retirement.
